Due to the outbreak of Covid-19. The Manchester Conference Centre Located in the heart of Manchester is to become the NHS Nightingale Hospital North West is a key facility in the region’s response to Covid-19.
The new hospital is part of the huge NHS mobilisation plan to deal with the growing number of Covid-19 cases.
As SPEC Ltd operate and maintain the conference centre, we were contacted to help and assist in bolstering the existing mains incoming 6600v supply form a single feed to an option of 3 alternative 6600v supplies in the event of a power failure to enable the centre to run as a hospital.
SPEC Ltd put a plan into place working alongside the centre staff whereby we supplied installed and commissioned HV Ring Main Unit and the required HV cabling works within 2 days to enable the facility to run as a hospital.
The field hospital was built in just two weeks and has already started treating COVID-19 patients from across Manchester. We would like to say “Thank You” to the NHS, the military, the planners, the builders, the technicians, and all the engineers working with us.
